Natural Toners That DOESN'T Dry Out Skin

Most of the Toners really dried out my skin and I absolutely hated that especially in winter. At one point I got kind of flaky skin then I stopped using that toner. I put some research and I found a lot of toners that were natural out there. Yes, they sold NATURAL toners in REAL shops. I didn't actually believe it first but I had to try it out. And so I did. Lush's Tea Tree Water Toner


When I was watching reviews on this product, people said it made their pores smaller. Even my friend said it when she tried it out. But it didn't make mine smaller :( However, every one is different. It worked on most, it might work on you.
And the best thing I loved about this was that it didn't dry out my skin or it didn't over moisturised my skin.
It was just neutral. It didn't even give me that tight feeling on the skin.
Its great for acne prone skin since tea tree is anti inflammatory and anti bacterial.
So its great for acne prone, combination-dry skin and the ones with large pores.

Rose and Glycerine Toner

 

First of all, I like its smell.
I read the ingredients and yes there were a few chemicals so it wasn't 100% natural.
But I still tried it because I love rose water. It reminds me of India because a lot of princesses in ancient times used roses for beauty purposes.
Rose water is also good for acne prone skin because it has that cooling effect which calms the acne inflammations.
When I used this toner, I didn't even use my moisturiser sometimes because the toner itself is moisturising.
I think  it can be a 2 in 1 product a toner and moisturiser at the same time.
This is perfect for anyone who doesn't want too much product on their face.
Its great for dry skin type and acne prone skin :)

Sea Salt Toner


I haven't found a NATURAL Sea Salt toner in shops yet.
So I thought to make one. I used it for about a month and it never dried out my skin.
I know you are like how can it not dry out skin because its salt.
Well I think its maybe because its SEA salt not Table Salt. So its not processed in factories.

Don't Touch Your Face


The habit of touching your face with your hands, face scratching, or wiping the sweat is a bad the habit of. Without us knowing the habit of touches include a cause of acne. Every day we do activities with hands that would cause the germs and dirt accumulate in the palm of the hand and fingers. When we touch the face of the germs and dirt from hand to face, clogging pores, causing acne.
It is very difficult to break the habit of touching your face. Suddenly there is an itching or discomfort in the face of the spontaneous hand will scratch or touch. Even scratching with dirty nails. All people would do such a thing.

This is such a good question! Losing weight isn’t easy for anyone but with a positive and healthy approach, you will be right on your way to reaching all your weight goals. To have the best weight-loss outcome possible, you must provide your body an optimal environment.

What does an optimal environment mean? Well, making sure your body has what it needs and what it can do to make it better. There are four steps to keep in mind:

1.  Make sure you are eating enough calories daily. You might be thinking “Oh, that’s easy. If I need 1500 calories to lose weight, all I have to do is eat that much — just  eat two or three big meals.” That’s essentially true, but if you spread out your calories in 5-6 sittings, your weight loss might be more effective.

If you eat your daily calories through multiple evenly spaced meals, you’ll give your body just enough for energy purposes and won’t store the excess. And with the regular meal frequency, you will keep your metabolism working all day long and find yourself less hungry.

2. Get into exercise. For weight-loss purposes, view exercise as a tool to elevate your metabolism. Studies have shown you will benefit more from increasing your exercise intensity rather than exercise duration. Also don’t exercise on an empty stomach. When you exercise on an empty stomach you use up muscle energy, you start to break down your muscles and fat for that energy.

The more muscle you have, the higher your resting metabolic rate will be and the faster you will get rid of the excess fat. So make sure you have a small meal or snack with some carbs, a bit of protein and little bit of fat about an hour before you exercise.

3.  Drink lots and lots of water. A well-hydrated body will be an efficiently running body. You give your body what it needs to do its job.

4. Get rest (I need to focus on this one!) You need to rest and recover. Without enough sleep, your body will be under a ton of stress. Think of your body as a temple and treat it that way. By following these steps you’ll be doing so and you’ll be right on track with reaching your overall weight loss goal!

Chemical in lipsticks can cause heart problems



A chemical commonly used in lipsticks, handwashes and other personal care products may cause heart problems and muscle impairment, a new study has claimed.

Scientists at the University of California have found that triclosan, which is used in hundreds of household products, can hinder the process by which muscles, including the heart, receive signals from the brain.

In tests on mice, they noted a ‘dramatic’ 25 per cent reduction in heart function within 20 minutes of exposure, and warned there is ‘strong evidence’ it could affect human health.

However regulators and other experts insist triclosan levels in products are safe, and that the doses injected into the mice were higher than those to which humans would ever be exposed.

Previous studies have found that triclosan may have links to thyroid and fertility problems, this is the first time its effects have been tested on muscles.

Scientists had thought that the chemical — which was devised to prevent bacterial infections in hospitals — was metabolised quickly by the body without harmful effects.

However, the researchers at the University of California say it may remain active and be transported to organs, causing damage.

“Triclosan is found in virtually everyone’s home and is pervasive in the environment,” said professor Isaac Pessah, who led the study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

“These findings provide strong evidence that it is of concern to both human and environmental health,”

“For someone who is healthy a 10 per cent drop in heart function may not have an effect, but if you have heart disease it could make a big difference,” Pessah said.

His team injected a group of mice with triclosan. They saw a ‘significantly reduced’ function in the heart’s left ventricle within 20 minutes.

“The effects of triclosan on cardiac function were really dramatic,” said Nipavan Chiamvimonvat, professor of cardiovascular medicine at UC Davis and a study co-author.

What MOST of us do not know about the foods we consume is, everything we eat and drink leaves a resultant ash of either acid or alkali in our bodies.

Becoming Alkaline!


This is not as difficult or as technical as it sounds.  When we talk about eating alkaline foods or starting an alkaline diet we are referring to consuming those foods and drink which have an alkaline effect on the body.  This effect is based upon the mineral content of the food and therefore the ash residue that remains after our foods are consumed.  Some foods leave an acid ash, whereas others leave an alkaline ash. Conveniently for us, it just so happens that the foods that contain alkaline minerals (and leave an alkaline ash) are all the foods we already know are good for us: low sugar foods, fresh alkaline vegetables etc. And the foods that contain minerals that leave an acid ash? You guessed it, sweets, alcohol, saturated fats, meats, dairy etc.

Of course, everybody is different – but most of us should aim to eat 70-80% alkaline foods and a maximum of 20-30% acid forming foods.

This does not have to be measured in calories, grams or anything technical, just look at your plate! Is 70% of the food on it alkalising? And for the other 30%? You can do with this what you like (how acid is up to you – dependent upon the results you want), but feel free to go for some oily fish, wholemeal pasta or wild rice for example.

See Your Dentist Twice A Year


This advice originally came from an old toothpaste ad. There was no science behind it, and there still isn't. A 2003 review looked at 29 studies and found no conclusive evidence supporting a need to go every 6 months. If your choppers (and gums!) are healthy, once a year is enough to catch any developing problems, says James Bader, D.D.S., M.P.H., a research professor at the University of North Carolina school of dentistry.

Just don't wait longer than that: A study presented at the American Heart Association meeting last year found that having your teeth cleaned by a professional once a year lowers your risk of heart attack by 24 percent and stroke by 13 percent.


Don't Eat After 8 P.M.


Calories can't tell time. There's no difference between the 6:30 a.m. and 8:20 p.m. kinds, says Susan Bowerman, M.S., R.D., assistant director of the UCLA Center for Human Nutrition. Plus, hitting the sack hungry can disrupt sleep patterns. In fact, new research suggests you should eat right before bed if you exercise at night, or if you're over 60. Often, scans miss lesions, giving a false sense of security—or they "find" something that's not there, leading to unnecessary anxiety and more tests. Scans can help detect lung cancer and coronary-artery calcium, but these tests are recommended only for people over 45 who have risk factors like smoking, moderately high blood pressure, or moderately high cholesterol. If that isn't you, you don't need a scan.


Throw Away Milk When It Reaches The Expiration Date


The date on the carton is just the date after which it can't be sold. The milk probably has another week of freshness, says Bowerman. Give it a sniff and proceed. And if you drink sour milk, there'll be a flavor problem—oh, yes indeed—but you don't need to have your stomach pumped. There's another word for curdled milk: cheese.

Wrong again. A high temperature boosts your metabolism, causing you to burn calories. If you're weakened, the illness will hang around longer. So try to replace calories any way you can, says Ben Ansell, M.D., director of the Comprehensive Health Program at UCLA. "It's even more important to maintain regular fluid intake, as your body's demands may be at least twice what they are in other circumstances." Are they bad for cholesterol and how many can I have?: Unscrambling the truth about eggs

Once demonised as bad for the heart, eggs have been repositioned as a health food in recent years as researchers have found that not only are they good for hearts, but can even help you to lose weight.

But last week Canadian researchers published findings that could crack eggs’ nutritious reputation. 

In the study of 1,200 subjects with an average age of 61, it was suggested that build-up of carotid plaque, a waxy substance that clogs blood vessels and is linked to cardiovascular disease, was greater in people who ate at least two eggs per week.

The researchers specifically blamed egg yolks for this effect.

Britons eat nearly 30 million eggs a day. Should we curtail our egg habit to protect our hearts?

ARE EGGS BAD FOR CHOLESTEROL OR NOT?


The latest Canadian research ‘goes against the grain of current scientific thinking’, says Helen Bond, of the British Dietetic Association. 

A few years ago, Bruce Griffin, professor of nutritional metabolism at the University of Surrey, analysed 30 egg studies carried out over 30 years and found eggs ‘have no clinically significant impact’ on cholesterol levels.

EGGS CAN PROTECT THE HEART


In fact, a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found eggs helped to maintain healthy blood pressure levels, says Helen Bond.  

And last year, scientists at the University of Alberta discovered egg yolks contain two important amino acids, tryptophan and tyrosine, and that two raw egg yolks have almost twice as many antioxidants as an apple. 

Frying or boiling reduced antioxidant levels by about half. 

EGGS ARE A NUTRITIONAL POWERHOUSE


Thanks to changes in chicken feed, eggs today are healthier than those produced 30 years ago. 

Modern eggs contain 70 per cent more vitamin D and double the amount of selenium. 

Levels of these are low in the UK diet, and linked to an increased risk of cancer, cardiovascular disease and infertility. Each egg yolk also provides 13 essential nutrients.

HOW MANY EGGS CAN I HAVE?

The Department of Health now says we can eat as many eggs as we like, as long as they form part of a healthy, balanced diet. There is no upper limit, says Bond, unless you have inherited high cholesterol.

Of the Canadian study, she says that carotid plaque rises anyway with age after 40. 

And the researchers didn’t take into account lifestyle factors such as exercise and diet. 

AREN’T THEY FATTENING?


In the Department of Health analysis it was found that eggs contain around 20 per cent less fat, 13 per cent fewer calories and 10 per cent less cholesterol than 30 years ago. 

In one study, overweight women had eggs or a bagel for breakfast. The egg eaters consumed fewer calories in the following 24 hours.

‘Scientists put the positive effects down to the satiating effects of egg protein,’ says Bond.

Body Sugaring Experience

Hi Girls! I am in Canada for holidays right now. Thats why I haven't been able to write many posts :( But here's a lovely comment sent by one of my beautiful reader who have tried the Body Sugaring technique to remove hair. If you want to know more about it click HERE.
So this is what she commented and I really appreciate it. I think its a better idea :)

I have been sugaring regularly for about six months now, using a different method from the one you describe. I am very happy with it and I want to share it with everyone.
I prepare the sugar by cooking two cups of water, three cups of sugar, and two teaspoons of lemon juice to 260°F (make sure to adjust for altitude). It's important to be precise with the temperature, otherwise the sugarwax turns either too liquid or too firm, and it's useless in both cases. A $1 candy thermometer works just fine.

I let it cool to room temperature (it turns a light golden yellow), then I take a small piece of the pliable mixture and mold it with my hands a little. I apply it against the natural direction of hair growth, making sure to push it into the hair follicles, and pull it quickly in the direction of hair growth. I reuse the same piece of sugar for as long as it works, and just grab a new one when there is too much hair on it. There are several youtube videos explaining how to do this stripless sugaring, however most of them use a different recipe. I have tested several, and I find this one to work best.

I prefer stripless sugaring to virtually any other method for just about any part of my body. I find that hair takes longer to grow back than regular waxing, and there is virtually no skin irritation because sugar doesn't adhere to live skin like wax does. Finally, pulling the hairs out in the direction of their growth has unexpected benefits: less pain and no ingrowns (usually a big issue for me).


So this is what she does and to be honest I think this is better :)

How Much Exercise Do Kids Really Need?

After soccer practice this weekend, my three-and-a-half year old son and his buddies hit the playground for a good hour of running and climbing. 

A gallon of water and a hamburger later, my husband and I were ready to call it a day, but he had a different idea - how about we go to the park and use the climbing wall? 

Most little kids have boundless physical energy (when it comes to activities they like, at least) and when they're young, a healthy dose of activity will come in the course of a normal day without much thought. Still, educators and public health officials have guidelines to help parents make sure their little ones are getting the exercise they need for healthy development. 

Beyond physical health 


We all know that exercise is important for muscle strength, lean body composition, setting kids on a lifelong trajectory of good cardiovascular health, and lowering the risk of chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes. 

But when your kid is huffing and puffing, it's not just a benefit to her body. Physical activity has been shown to improve executive function (the ability to focus on and retain important information and filter distractions), perhaps through an increase in available blood or energy to the frontal cortex and the memory-forming hippocampus. In other words, exercise also helps your child think. 

And we have reason to believe that staying active is important to your child's mood, too. On an immediate level you can see this difference in spirit - let's say, when your child starts to hit his friends after he's cooped up too long, or when he's been sluggishly devouring shows on the iPad and then brightens when he gets out of the house to play tag. 

How much exercise do kids need? 


You'll find plenty of benchmarks for children's physical activity out there, and most, like those from the CDC and the Department of Health and Human Services, converge on the idea that male and female children and adolescents need at least one hour of exercise every day. That should be composed of activities that are:

  • Aerobic (running, jumping, biking, dancing, and other pastimes that up your child's heart rate)
  • Muscle-strengthening (climbing or other actions that "overload" muscles beyond their normal work)
  • Bone-strengthening (jumping, running, hopscotch, and other actions that put force on the bones)
The National Association for Sport and Physical Education says that toddlers need 30 minutes of structured and 60 minutes of unstructured activity every day, and that they should not be sedentary for more than 60 minutes at a time except to sleep. For preschoolers, the recommendation is 60 minutes of structured and 60 minutes to several hours of unstructured activity, with the same parameter of being sedentary for no more than an hour. Kids ages five to 12 should get at least an hour of activity all or most days of the week. 

Running out of ideas to keep your kid moving? Try these tips for staying active: 

Go for the big schoolyard 


If your child is in daycare or preschool (especially if it's a full day program), make sure there is plenty of indoor and outdoor space for toddling and running, and also a safe climbing structure. By the age of three, most kids need a nice wide-open yard to play tag, bike, or just run in good old-fashioned circles. 

Keep the stroller for long walks 


While the stroller makes life easier for parents, try to limit it to longer hikes. Help your toddler or preschooler get in the habit of walking next to you instead. Make it an "adventure walk," in which you pick up interesting treasures along the way or pretend you're exploring the neighborhood, if she needs encouragement. 

The friend factor 


A recent study gave us reason to think that social dynamics can have an impact on a child's level of activity; feeling ostracized or excluded may make our little ones more likely to be sedentary. Check out what's happening on the playground with your child's friends and make sure she feels comfortable and motivated to get in the game. 

Limit TV 


Television is the ultimate anti-exercise, so see if you can limit screen time by having parameters around it, such as only on the weekends or only one show per day. 

Sleep and eat well 


Your little one needs energy to play, so check that she's sleeping well (13-15 hours a day for a one-year-old; 12-14 hours a day for a two-year-old; and at least 11-12 hours for a preschooler) and getting plenty of healthy foods and lots of water.

DIY: Make Your Own Finishing/Setting Spray Suitable for Acne-Prone Skin


So there I was watching YouTube Beauty tutorials where the girls showed their favourite products.. A lot of them mentioned Mac's Fix + Finishing/Setting Spray and they all said it was amazing. It made their makeup flawless after a few mists of this product. So I got really excited about buying this and I did buy it. I compared the Mac's spray with my 100% Natural Finishing Spray. And here's what I think which one is better and which suits what skin type. Read more to find out...
You will be VERY surprised when I tell you about my secret setting or finishing spray that I use after I put my foundation and concealer.
It is just simple Cold Water stored in a spray bottle. Yes, ONLY Cold Water.

 
Now I have tried the Mac Spray a couple of times... about 10-11 times.
It is actually good but it makes my skin a little shiny. So I tried again and didn't spray too much this time but I had the same result. I had a shiny T-Zone.
Well I have naturally oily-combination skin so I thought this spray just made it more oilier.
BUT you can use it if you have dry skin. Then yes, definitely you will have that FLAWLESS model look.
For me, I think I will use it in winter when my skin gets a little dry. So I can balance out the whole skin issue.
You can even use this spray as a highlighter. Just spray this mist a few times on a sponge and dab it on your cheekbones and there you go... You have a lovely healthy glow to your skin ;)
When I use the Cold Water as a Finishing Spray, it makes me feel sooooo fresh and my make up is perfect. Its not too shiny and not too matte. Its somewhere in the middle with a natural looking finish.
It wakes me up instantly if I am lazy in the mornings.
It is good for acne because cold water is natural of course and since it is cold, it calms the inflammation of acne. And there are no harsh chemicals going on your skin to aggravate the acne.
I use water from the cold tap in my bathroom to be honest.
The best thing is that it is absolutely FREE.
I change the water every day and I fill my spray bottle with FRESH Cold Water. I don't like using yesterday's stored water. Its just not fresh for me you know.
