Vitamin A is essential for the formation of healthy skin cells. Deficiency of Vitamin A over a long period of time can lead to thick, itchy dry skin which can be prone to infection. Both vitamin C and vitamin E have been shown to protect the skin against sun damage. Vitamin E is an oil so it helps to soften the complexion. Taken as a supplement vitamin E is absorbed into cell membranes where it acts as an antioxidant, protecting the cells from damage.
Vitamin E comes in different forms: the more potent version is alpha tocopherol. You can add the contents of a vitamin E capsule to your regular moisturiser.
